Friday, August 25, 2023 –Raila Odinga’s family held a star-studded 50th anniversary together with Mama Ida’s birthday at the Nairobi’s Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel along Waiyaki Way, Westlands Nairobi.
Just after landing in Kenya from the United Kingdom UK, On Thursday August 25, Odinga drove straight to the anniversary venue Kempinski where he joined his family.
Mama Ida, Raila’s wife, was also celebrating her 73 Birthday is style at what they described as a private event attended by a few select friends, colleagues and family members.
Former prime Minister’s wife was treated like a prince as she was driven in a top-of-the-range Hammer car accompanied by her daughter Rosemary, Winnie, Raila Junior and several grandchildren.
At the same time, the event was also part of the Raila Jr.’s child who, the family said, had turned two years old.
Musician Prince Indah as to Esther Akoth or Akothee graced the entertainment session with their love songs each running into the midnight.
Politicians Martha Karua, Siya Governor James Aggrey Orengo and Likoni Member of Parliament Mishi Mboko as well as Embakasi lawmaker Babu Owino born Paul Ongili were present.
Homenews.Co.ke learnt that the event started at 6:30PM and ran over into the midnight; what organizers defended that they had to incorporate various events in one segment. Some of these included the cutting of the birth day cake.
Raila used the opportunity to shower praises at wife Ida saying she has been a pillar and true love of his life and wished her long years ahead.
Mr. Odinga, at some point, shared a Jamaican Farewell rendition of the timeless melody as a sign of gratitude to the wife.
Their children would then take over to gift their mother with sh 1 million so that to help in the construction of Ida Odinga library project in Homa Bay County
Also present in the event was Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga who is a close friend to Mama Ida Odinga same to Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris who described Ida as her long time mentor.
