Wednesday, August 25, 2021 -Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has visited Dar Es Salaam to meet both families of former Head of State Benjamin Mkapa and John Pembe Magufuli.

While meeting them, Mr. Odinga confirmed having had a cordial interaction with the two first families dating back in 90s.

“I passed by to visit the families of my good friends Presidents Benjamin Mkapa and John Magufuli. Great to see Mama Anna Mkapa and Mama Janeth Magufuli in high spirits.

“Mungu azilaze roho zao mahali pema peponi (May God rest their souls in eternal peace),” Odinga tweeted before later meeting the current President Samia Suluhu.

The opposition leader and his younger daughter Winnie made a stop over in Tanzania after they had attended President Hakainde Hichilema’s Tuesday’s inauguration event in Zambia where President Uhuru Kenyatta was also in attendance.

For Mkapa, he served as Tanzania’s President between 1995 and 2005 before he died at the age of 81 on July 24 2020.

On the other hand, Magufuli died last year while still in office what led to his able vice Samia Suluhu immediately take instruments of power.

Odinga and Magufuli were friends during the early days of Magufulis rein.
