Saturday, February 12, 2022 –Lawyer Silas Chepkeres Jakakimba also former legal adviser to Raila Odinga has dropped out of Lang’ata Constituency contest.
The youthful lawyer took to his Twitter to announce that due to emerging critical issues, he had decided to leave the race and support comedian Jalang;o.
He made the announcement on Friday February 11 barely an hour after Felix Odiwuor aka Jalang’o had threatened to join another party willing to give him a ticket.
“Due to emerging and critical issues, assignments in the past several months, I have had to skip on my earlier intention to stand for elective public office including the empty Lang’ata Parliamentary seat,” Jakakimba wrote.
Jalang’o had already told Chungwa House that he was not willing to compete his ‘brother’ Jakikimba and said, instead, he would opt for another party so that they can meet in the main ballot.
Sources told Homenews.co.ke that the ex-Kiss 100 morning presenter informed ODM Party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna that he would not risk going into party primaries with an insider like Silas who is a longtime confidant of Raila Odinga.
And after thorough deliberations, Chungwa House weighed between the two and decided to prevail upon Jakakimba to shelve his August 9th ambitions for the sake of the bigger picture.
This move now seems to have put Jalang’o at a better place to become the next Lang’ata Member of Parliament should he unseat the incumbent, Nixon Korir, who has reportedly not performed so well on the ground.
