Sunday, May 7, 2023 – Nairobi rapper-cum-singer Nyashinski born Nyamari Ongegu has been called out for his conduct during the recent MO Festival, which was hosted by billionaire Mohammed Fathi Ahmed Ibrahim at the KICC.
The event that took place last weekend saw a lineup of top Kenyan talents invited to grace among them local rapper Nyashinski.
It has emerged that, despite the Hayawani hit composer being paid a whopping sh 2 million advance to perform, he ended up letting down the organisers.
It is reported that, when other artists remained cooperative, the former Kleptomaniax member who has since gone solo turned troublesome and egocentric.
“The other artistes were generally cooperative, but not him. Nyashinski is egocentric, he refused to do photo and video shoots as part of the build-up to the show. I tried to guide him on the set, and he said, “I can’t do that,” and walked away,” an organiser claimed.
A photographer from the venue has also reported that, all along, working with Nyasinski has never been easy due to his boisterous character. He feels always on top of the world even when it comes to mere photo sessions.
“I have heard of similar incidents before, but this was the first time I experienced it. I don’t know if it’s because he’s such a star or if it’s a personality thing. I found it odd that he did not behave the way he did, considering that he had already been paid Sh2 million as an advance before the show and a similar amount was paid after the show,” the photographer revealed.
When time for a press briefing arrived, Nyasinski also switched off completely hence deliberately missing out on the important session held at Raddison Blu, Upper Hill, with reports suggesting he had turned down all interview requests, that particular day.
During the event, the singer who was the last act to be called on the stage, however, put up a stellar live performance that lasted for 40 minutes. He was backed up by his highly-trained band.
