Regulator Announces Low Fuel Prices

Thursday, October 14, 2021 –Energy and Petroleum body regulator has released new pump prices for the period ranging Friday October 15 and Sunday November 14.

Making the indexing on Thursday October 14, Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority EPRA announced that both diesel and petrol prices will drop by sh 5 as Kerosene reduced by sh 7.28 per liter for the next 30 days.

And from the drop rates, it’s obvious that Petrol will have to retail at sh 129.72 in Nairobi as Diesel price goes for sh 103.54 per liter.

Miles away in Mombasa, petrol is expected to start selling at sh 127.46 while Diesel goes at sh 108.36 and Kerosene to retail at sh 101.29.

Further in Nakuru County, Petrol will be retailing at sh 129.24, Diesel at sh 120.43 and Kerosene will sell at sh 103.39.

This is happening just days after ODM Party leader Raila Odinga promised to make sure fuel prices are reduced in the country. He had promised this to happen last week which did not happen.

“I assure you that the fuel prices will go down this coming week,” Raila stated on Saturday, October 2, during his Bungoma County tour.

After the recent hike in prices, Nairobi’s petrol has been selling at sh 134.72, Diesel at sh 115 and Kerosene retailed at sh 110.2. This even saw Energy Petroleum Cabinet Secretary John Munyes affirm that it would be difficult to reduce the prices due to unavoidable market factors.
