A more than 20 officers arrived his Nyeri residence at around 4AM on Friday and drove him straight to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI offices for interrogations. He described the officers as “friendly state officers who were only doing their duty”.
Gachagua told Inooro TV that he was being arrested because of his hand in the just ended Kiambaa by-lection which their UDA Party won
“I want to tell the people of Mathira to ignore the rumours, their MP has not stolen anything, these are just baseless accusation to intimidate me for my political standing,” the MP said on Friday “They just wanted to arrest me on Friday and detain me for the weekend to punish me, and it is okay,” he added.
However, it is in the public domain that the legislator is facing graft charges of sh 12.5 billion which is under investigations.
The MP has defended his source of wealth saying he can account for every penny in his pocket since he does genuine businesses. He recently told Citizen Tv that he started his business at an early age and therefore having money should not be anyone’s problems.
