Tuesday, January 16, 2024 -High Court Advocate Evans Ondieki has today blasted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for naming a judge in a corruption claim with an aim of seeking her removal.
In a fierce press briefing outside courts today Tuesday January 16, Lawyer Ondieki firmly called out the DP for his utterances on a female judge who handled his corruption case two years ago.
Ondieki said that Gachagua doesn’t have respect for the Judiciary and it is on this account that judges and lawyers cannot respect him.
He said that the case which the judge who the DP is angry at made the decision based on both the evidence and law in court and not just hearsay.
“The judge whom I will not name for respect is a qualified judge who has risen through the ranks to where she is today.
“Infact, if anything, she is the most hardworking judge I can name in the country today,” Lawyer Ondieki stated.
He took issue with the DP for shouting a select names of judges in the public so that to defame and scandalise them on the basis of past case rulings.
He said Gachagua had a case which he manipulated at the appeal level with fresh and doctored affidavits.
Describing Gachagua as a rogue State official, Ondieki said these affidavit manipulation took place immediately Kenya Kwanza took power last year.
The High Court advocate added that Gachagua becoming the deputy president in Kenya was a terrible accident which Kenyans should carefully put up with for the next four years.
The lawyer was fielding questions from journalists who tasked him with recent DP Gachagua’s remarks on a certain popular high court judge.
