Friday, April 21, 2023 –Citizen Tv journalist Victoria Rubadiri will be joining three other lucky Kenyan journalists in the Global Maternal Health conference to be held in South Africa as part of a 5-day press fellowship programme to take place from May 7 to May 11.
The four kenyans went through a vigorous competitive process to bag the position that will see them fly out for the prestigious event.
Apart from Kenyans, the three are part of the 12 communication experts selected on Thursday April 20 to cover the event.
The Kenyans who are selected include Daily Nation’s Health and Science reporter, Leon Lidigu, and Deputy Digital Editor at The Star Nancy Agutu.
More than 1,500 stakeholders worldwide will converge to discuss solutions that can improve maternal and newborn health to accomplish the targets outlined in the Sustainable Development GoalsSDG.
“We will bring select journalists interested in covering Maternal and Newborn Health MNH to Cape town, South Africa.
“These participating journalists selected through a competitive application process will be on the ground for the duration of the conference,” International Maternal Newborn Health Conference IMNHC stated.
This will be the first of its kind to be held after eight years and will be held after every two years to maintain, monitor and improve maternal health in the world.
“The conference is the first biannual IMNHC, and in the future, an IMNHC will be held every two years to maintain our global progress towards improving maternal newborn health,” noted IMNHC.
Other journalists selected for the fellowship included Payal Banerjee from India, Somrita Ghosh from India, Sphioe Edwards from the United Kingdom UK, and Zanolwazi Kunene from South Africa.
Others are NTV Uganda journalist Andrew Kyamagero, Nigerian Health Editor Chioma Umeha, United States NBC News Reporter Julianne McShane, Sierra Leona Reporter Kemo Cham, and Lenin Ndebele from Zimbabwe.
