Thursday, July 21, 2022 –Deputy President William Ruto has challenged a section of Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance to also explain how some of them acquired the 100,000-acres of land in the Coastal Region.
Responding to claims by Raila Odinga and his allies that once they take charge of the country they will work on repossession programme of the multi-million Taita Taveta parcel of land, Ruto yesterday Wednesday July 20, mentioned that he has all the necessary papers regarding the expansive land formerly owned by area MP Basil Criticos.
DP Ruto says he acquired the 2,500-acre ranch in Taita Taveta County through his deal with the previous owner Mr. Basil Criticos.
“Let them also tell us how they acquired over 100,000 acres of land in the Coast region. I have documents showing how I got my land in the region and let them also show Kenyans the receipts of their land in the region.
“I have receipts from the person who sold the land to me. Let them (Azimio) show the receipts from the people who sold the huge chunks of land to them in the region,” he stated.
Recently while on a campaign trail in Mombasa County, Azimio leaders led by Raila Odinga and Governor Ali Hassan Joho promised to repossess the land back to the locals saying Ruto fraudulently acquired the ranch using his State networks.
