Friday, July 14, 2023 –Fire-spitting President William Ruto has promised to dispatch enough police officers across the country to stop Raila Odinga’s next week protests.
A visibly angry President who was addressing residents of Nakuru County today Friday July 14 noon, firmly stated that his administration will not sit down and watch as Azimio camp destroy lives, economy and property in the name of holding protests against the high cost of living.
Speaking during the roadside stopover, the head of State assured every Kenyan that on Wednesday, everybody will go on with their economic activities without disruptions from protesters.
“Last Friday eight people died; recently seven died. Do you think we can continue with this. No demonstration will be held in this country again. Not under my watch.
“I will not allow Raila to disturb me again the way he did to Kibaki, Uhuru in the name of BBI which eventually plunged us into huge foreign debts.
“Now he is back again and you all saw how he destroyed property in Nairobi. You will not force to lead this country through deaths and destruction,” Ruto fired at Raila.
The president warned the opposition that, going forward, he will not lie low as they attempt to interfere with his progress of developing the nation.
He claimed that the key reason the opposition was hellbent on staging demos was because it fears that his steady success in making sure the country stabilizes in matters food is almost nigh.
He, therefore, stated that he will be facing them (Azimio coalition) head-on from next week unless they call off their planned demos.
Ruto was reacting to Friday news from Azimio headquarters in Nairobi that protests will now take place from Wednesday to Friday.
The Odinga-led coalition noted that this review was as a result of increased public demand from their perceived 99 percent of Kenyans who are against the Finance Act 2023.
