Ruto Bitterly Claps Back at Karua – Video

Chrispen

Sunday, June 19, 2022 –Deputy President William Ruto has responded to Martha Karua’s remarks about respecting the president.

Through a thin-veiled attack directed to the DP, Ms Karua has been tweeting about the need for a deputy to respect the boss and not act as a co-president.

“Heshima si utumwa’ The Azimio Presidency will be as the Consitution intended it; with a President and a Deputy President, not a co-presidency,” she tweeted on June 17.

But during their Kiambu rally held on Saturday June 18, Ruto’s team reminded Uhuru of their 2013 and 2017 unequivocal support that saw Uhuru take power twice.

On his behalf, DP Ruto who appeared to have been angered by Karua’s advice, spoke about having remained behind Kenyatta for a long period despite the challenges the president has faced in his political life and now called upon Uhuru to remember this so that he can reciprocate in good faith.

Ruto further asked the president to see the need of supporting his 2022 bid so that he can complete their projects as was supposed to be when they promised to each serve Kenyans for 10 years.

This turn of events is a clear departure from the claims that when Uhuru supports someone else it means a puppet or a project of the State.

“This is shock. I’ve heard the Azimio group, ordering us to respect President Uhuru Kenyatta. I have one question for Raila and Martha Karua, where were you when we voted for Uhuru these past elections?” Ruto lamented.

He sought to know where the Azimio leaders led by Raila Odinga and Martha Karua were when Uhuru needed them most.

“Where were they when President Uhuru required them when he was facing tribulations at the International Criminal Court? They have now come pretending that they love him. Buree kabisa,” he added.

Ruto’s running mate Rigathi Gachagua also weighed on the matter asking the president to rethink his steps before handing power to someone else who is not Ruto.

All along, Kenya Kwanza politicians have branded Raila a State project for having received the blessings of the president. This u-turn in their remarks has since been viewed by pundits as a desperate call to the same State to back Ruto.
