Saturday, December 2, 2023 – Opposition leader Raila Odinga has claimed that those who stole 2022 elections are now chocking on his victory.
Speaking in Kakamega County where he has pitched camp in an effort to drum up support for his party amid mass membership registration exercise, Mr. Odinga, said the current administration of Dr. William Ruto is struggling to run the country because of stolen election.
Due to that, it is trying to make things work for them but anytime it tries harder, the more things fall apart.
“They robbed our victory last year and that is why they can’t make any meaningful move.
“The peace of meat in their mouth cannot go down their throat. Its chocking them almost to death. They may be forced to spit it out at last,” Mr. Odinga said.
The Azimio boss, while explaining why he started anti-government protests moths ago, noted that this was meant to fix a raft of issues affecting this nation.
Among them being the sky-rocketing cost of fuel and basic items as well as electoral injustices for future generations.
The ODM Party leader also said interference with political parties in the country had become a norm despite law prohibiting this. Therefore, to stop this, the bipartisan talks held at the Bomas of Kenya also came up with possible recommendations on how to sanitise political environment.
Accompanied by former Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya, his successor Fernandes Barasa among other members, Odinga slammed the national government for overseeing demolitions at Kakamega’s Milimani Estate.
He threatened to go to court to stop the exercise that has seen established businessmen in the town lose multimillion properties.
Among those affected in the ongoing demolitions are Sugar tycoon Jaswant Rai and Lurambi Member of Parliament MP Titus Khamala.
ODM leadership is blaming the Regional County Commissioner for supervising the exercise which they term as political and which must stop.
