Ruto Confronted With ‘Real’ Questions on VoA

Saturday, March 5, 2022 –Deputy President William Ruto was confronted by a Kenyan-born US journalist Esther Githui over poor economy, corruption and wanting leadership in Kenya.

The emotional Voice of America VoA journalist asked the DP several hard-hitting questions about the state of the country as Ruto seemed to fluff and stammer all through the interview.

The journalist who started her career life at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation KBC held Ruto responsible for the poor living standards in the country since he is part of the leaders who have never worked to solve the puzzle while they continue to enrich themselves using public resources.

Deputy President William Ruto with US Assistant Secretary of State for Africa, Molly Phee at the State Department, Washington DC.

“Because you lost direction, Kenyans lost direction. This is the bigger binding issue. Look, I come from there, you know what it is here in America, people are gonna confront you and ask you the same kinds of questions. The economy of Kenya has gone so bad that what we are reading every day is killings, children being killed, people have lost their minds… What is wrong with the Kenyan fabric? It is not good at all. How are you going to address that?” Posed Githui.

Ruto, on listening to the question, looked down, squeezed his mouth before he owned up saying the country was in a bad state but the only remedy was his Bottom Up economic model.

“It is true we have an issue, but it is not as bad as you make it look. It is not out of control.

“The Hustler Movement is a movement that is people-driven. It is a movement that is driven by the Bottom-Up economic model. A model that will ensure that money trickles down to the pockets of the real worker who is the farmer, the jua kali artisan, the masons, and many others,” he responded.

He then promised that his administration will be responsible in correcting the situation in just 100 days of taking office.

The DP with his team made their way to America afew days ago where they are addressing issues concerning the nation including concerns over the August 9 elections.
