Monday, June 24, 2024 -President William Ruto today Monday June 24 handed over the Kenyan Flag to the first group of 400 Kenyan Police officers out of 1,000 to leave for the Haiti mission.
Addressing the police officers who had gathered at the Statehouse for the ceremony that also saw them receive blessings from church leaders, Ruto said Kenya has solid credentials in peace-making and conflict resolution globally hence the need to use this skill to resettle people living in Haiti.
He added that the mission will help the helpless families living in Haiti to settle back in their homes without much disturbance.
“Our police officers’ presence in Haiti will give relief to the men, women and children whose lives have been broken by gang violence. We will work with the international community to bring lasting stability in Haiti. At the Administration Police Training College, Embakasi, for the pre-deployment briefing of the first Kenyan Police contingent to the Multinational Security Support Mission to Haiti,” Ruto stated.
The commander-in-chief promised the United States of America U.S.A President Joe Biden enough cooperation in making sure, atleast, 1000 Kenyan policemen are send to Haiti to ensure calm and sanity is restored in the Caribbean war-torn nation.
