Saturday, September 30, 2023 –During his tour in Kiambu County on Sunday September 30, President William Ruto ordered local tycoons to vacate public land in the area.
Dr. Ruto announced an immediate ejection of the said land grabbers saying public land has no negotiation.
He was speaking this during a working tour in Gatundu North Constituency, where he directed the area Regional Commissioner RC to implement the orders immediately.
“They (land grabbers) have made fake titles and they are planning on taking the land. I want to tell the Regional Commissioner here that all those who have grabbed government land to be removed,” the Head of State ordered.
“We want to build houses so that Kenyans can live with dignity. All those sitting on government land must be moved immediately,” Dr Ruto further stated.
He was acting on cries by area governor Kimani Wamatang’i who has been fighting hard to eject the well-oiled grabbers from the area.
Wamatang’i told the head of State that the said tycoons had grabbed several public areas around the county.
He invoked names of a section of politicians who work with the grabbers to defraud the public land meant for development.
And through Ruto’s announcement today, the governor assured locals that it was now systems go for his plan to erect affordable houses.
“The biggest problem that I have been having in this county is with these land grabbers. In Kiambu, we went to an Affordable Housing site and half of 4 acres had been taken by a tycoon,” he affirmed.
Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, who happens to come from the county, warned the grabbers against continuing to occupy the questionable public land.
He said court cases they had mounted against ejection will nolonger be reinforced at the expense of development for the people.
At the Kamwangi Trading Centre in Gatundu North, Kiambu County, President Ruto inspected the construction of the 67-Kilometre Thika-Magumu Road that will serve both Kiambu and Nyandarua, improving access to agricultural and industrial products within the Counties.
This road is also a bypass that will reduce congestion in Nairobi City.
