Friday, August 26, 2022 –Outgoing Deputy President William Ruto has responded to Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya law suit filed at the Supreme Court.
Dr. Ruto, through his lawyers led by Lawyer Kithure Kindiki alongside Gladys Shollei, today Friday August 26 walked to the Supreme Court in Milimani Nairobi where they presented their detailed legal response as required by law.
Their response centers on the prayers by Mr. Raila Odinga and Martha Karua that William Ruto’s recent victory be annulled and if possible a recount that could see the latter declared winners accelerated.
Raila listed William Ruto in the suit that also had Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC officials mentioned as respondents.
Mr. Odinga is challenging the election and naming of United Democratic Alliance UDA Party candidate Dr. William Ruto as the duly elected president of the republic of Kenya.
The naming of Ruto occurred at the time IEBC Commissioners had split in-between over mismanagement of the tail end of the electoral process.
The four Commissioners led by Juliana Cherera would emerge in a presser at Serena Hotel accusing their boss, Wafula Chebukati, of forcing figures in favour of William Ruto. They would also deny ownership of such numbers.
Each commissioner has since filed a separate response at the Supreme Court.
