Monday, December 5, 2022 –Kenya Kwanza government has stepped in to save embattled Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza from looming trouble.

Addressing the matter for the first time during a Sunday church service held in Embu, Both Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his boss William Ruto assured the governor that they will not just sit and watch as she falls.

Gachagua promised to actively involve himself in the whole matter with an aim of sitting down the local county leadership so that they can focus on unity of purpose.

“The president and I will not allow for any issues to stop the development in Meru. Ruto has agreed that we will have a sitting with the governor, senator, MCAs and Members of Parliament (MPs) so that we make peace,” DP Gachagua stated.

This was after Mwangaza had urged the national leadership to quickly intervene and help save her from the escalating fights that could easily culminate into an impeachment.

“I remember in 2011, we gave him a name: Marete, which means one who brings. It is my prayer that God touches President Ruto and uses him to bring peace to Meru county,” Mwangaza remarked.

President Ruto, who was also in attendance, urged Meru leaders to stop wrangles but instead support each other in delivering services for the locals who voted them into office.

He promised to help settle the differences facing the county leadership and to see Kawira remain safe at the helm of the county.

“I would like to ask the MCAs to lead and organise Embu county so that it can make steps forward. And to our governor, I will not let you fall.

“I will stand by you and fight with you but when you go astray, just know that I will be watching,” the President assured.

Mwangaza’s ouster was recently temporarily stopped by court where she had moved after MCAs had started making strides in her impeachment.

MCAs accused her of arrogance and lack of integrity.
