Sunday, April 30, 2023 -Government has officially declared a crackdown on rogue religious leaders in the country.

President William Ruto on Sunday, April 30, read the riot act on religious leaders who have been using the Bible to both rob and  kill innocent lives not only in Shakahola but across the country.

Speaking during a church service at Makutano Stadium in Kapenguria, West Pokot County, the visibly angry Ruto affirmed that his administration will frequently monitor all worship centers to make sure there are no unscrupulous players.

The new framework, he added, was being developed in conjunction with spiritual leaders to tame conmen in the church ministry.

“I will consult all religious leaders in the country to have a task force to weed out the characters who want to abuse religion or to run businesses and do things that are anti-religion in Kenya,” he announced.

The head of State further said he is forming a commission of inquiry to look into the Shakshola Forest massacre.

This, he said, will help establish all the collabirators in the crime and punish them for their crimes.

Last week, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki moved out local administration in the area and brought in new ones.

Upto now, the death toll has hit 110 with more bodies still being exhumed from Shakahola.

So far, two pastors from Kilifi have been linked to the killings and are in police custody awaiting to be charged in court.
