Monday, September 23, 2024 –President William Ruto has responded to his deputy Rigathi Gachagua saying there is no space for tribal politics.
Taking to his socials on Sunday September 22, President Ruto firmly reminded Gachagua of their campaign pledges among them being to fight tribalism and disunity around the country.
He added that only unity will help develop the country equally and that those dragging the country back to tribal politics will fall under his leadership.
“All Kenyans have stood firm to Reject Ukabila. Aina yoyote ya kuuza uwoga, ukabila, siasa mbaya kutoka kwa mchochezi hapa Kenya imepitwa na wakati.
“Tusimame sote tujenge nchi yetu ya amani, upendo na umoja tusonge mbele pamoja. Kenya ni kwetu. There is no place like home”.
The head of State went on to note that Kenya is nolonger keen on its tribes because every one of them deserves equal services from their government.
“Kenya is a tribeless state. Unity is our pillar,” again he said.
He was responding to his deputy who, yesterday Sunday, directly warned him again betrayal. Gachagua, who was addressing a church congregation, for the first time, told his boss not to continue with that direction as Kikuyu Community will not forgive him.
Gachagua said Ruto is free to break all the promises he made but should, atleast, keep only one – of not betraying the Kikuyu community which made him who he is today.
The DP also seized the opportunity to lament that the current administration had started to target his allies in the latest abductions.
Gachagua is currently embroiled in a political turmoil following his resolve to stand with Mt. Kenya Region which is his firm base.
On the contrary, his fellow UDA Party stalwarts have accused him of skewed leadership and have since threatened to send him home before end year in what they have called an “impeachment motion”.
