Thursday, November 11, 2021 –Deputy President is on the spot for creating an insecure environment around Karen area in Nairobi where he lives.
In a letter written by Karen Residents Association KRA and addressed to the office of the Deputy President, they are accusing Dr. Ruto of causing an unnecessary commotion in their elite neighborhood.
The letter was also copied to Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai in which they want the DP stopped from holding endless unnecessary political activities at the Karen residence. They argued that this has led to insecurity including increased mugging activities from jobless city youth.
In the letter, the residents association claim that those masquerading as Ruto visitors often turn risky to them.
“We have received complaints of insecurity, noise and traffic gridlock attributed to entourages entering your official residence. Residents have complained of rising cases of mugging along the route conducted by aliens masquerading as visitors to your residence,” the letter partly read.
They have noticed a number of suspicious elements within Karen who hung around in the name of visiting the DP.
“The association is highly concerned by the ever-presence of suspicious persons roaming around the area against its rules on loitering. We wish to notify you of rampant traffic gridlock as a result of visitors parking on the roadsides and way leaves awaiting clearance to your residence,” also read the letter in part.
The letter was signed by Karen Residents Association Chairperson and Secretary James Hirst indicating that using the narrow lanes within the estate had become even more difficult nowadays.
“We, therefore, request your office to speedily and conclusively look into the above matters, safeguard and restore peace and tranquility in our neighborhood,” continued the letter.
Ruto has held several political meeting at his Karen official residence as part of his campaign strategy ahead of 2022 general elections.
