Wednesday, February 28, 2024 –President William Ruto has continued meeting neighbour presidents amid AU campaigns to see the opposition leader Raila Odinga take the African Union Commission chair position.
Just a day after he met with Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni, Ruto flew back to Kenya to receive Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed Ali, yesterday.
“In the company of Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy AhmedAli, made a familiarisation tour of the Suswa Substation, Kajiado County,” Ruto confirmed yesterday Tuesday February 27 where they inspected the electricity network between Kenya and Ethiopia aimed at serving Tanzania through the 400kV Isinya Substation.
And today, Ruto hosted in the Statehouse President Hassan Mohammed from Somali. The duo spoke about trade, peace and security.
“Held fruitful talks with President of Somalia Hassan Mohamud touching on trade, peace and security in the region, State House Kenya, Nairobi County,” he divulged as he shared a series of photos of their meeting.
This meeting with his counterpart Mohamud makes the number of African heads of State four; including Tanzanian Samia Suluhu who met with Ruto days ago in Namibia.
In Raila’s speech today, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni will be his proposer for the plum African Union Commission post.
Making more revelations from Homa Bay investment Conference today Wednesday February 28, Mr. Odinga said, he had reached out to President Museveni who agreed to propose him for the position.
