Wednesday, March 27, 2024 -President William Ruto has warned that his administration will not relent fighting alcoholism.

Addressing on Wednesday March 27, Ruto faulted those busy accusing his Government of closing bars and drinking joints.

He said it is sad that many youths who should be busy working had been drowned with alcoholism in different areas in the country

“We cannot afford to have a drinking nation, we need to have only a working nation,” stated Ruto.
The commander-in-chief added that it is saddening to see youths only think of drinking and spending time idling around liquor joints when this country direly requires their brains, expertise and energy to develop.
Currently, police were directed by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to monitor liquor joints and make sure they only operate between 5PM and 11PM daily.
Since that directive, wine and spirits shop owners across the country have been issued with stern circular to operate within the law.
