Tuesday, July 30, 2024 ––President William Ruto has today made fresh nominations for his government of National Unity.
In the new list of appointment today Tuesday July 30, Dr. Ruto unveiled the new Attorney General’s name who will now be taken through the Parliamentary vetting exercise and, if approved by MPs, will replace Justin Muturi.
Dorcas Oduor will replace Muturi who has since been moved to Pubic Service Ministry formerly held by Moses Kuria.
Oduor is a current secretary of Public Prosecutions at the Office of of the Director of Public Prosecutions ODPP, Nairobi.
“The presidential nominations as transmitted to Parliament pertain to the position of the Attorney-General nominated Ms Dorcas Agik Oduor, SC, EBS, OGW, for appointment to the position of the Attorney-General of the Republic of Kenya
“Senior Counsel Dorcas Oduor has vast legal experience spanning over thirty years of practice within the public sector,” President Ruto announced.
Should her nomination be approved by Members of Parliament, she will become the first female AG to serve in the office.
Ms Oduor was named alongside Beatrice Askul Moe who was nominated to the position of Cabinet Secretary for East African Community Affairs (EAC) & Regional Development.
This being part of the president’s efforts to renew his Cabinet as an all-inclusive following a spate of anti-government protests by youths.
In the new-look administration, Ruto unveiled opposition figures among them ODM Party members who included John Mbadi (Treasury), Opiyo Wandayi (Energy and Petroleum) Ali Hassan Joho (Mining & Blue Economy) and Wycliffe Oparanya (Co-operatives).
