Monday, February 26, 2024 –President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga today flew to Uganda where they met with President Yoweri Museveni.
Ruto, in a statement shared on his X-Platform on Monday February 26 night, indicated that the three discussed matters regarding governance, relationship and peace.
Ruto stated that, Kenya and Uganda are committed to the deepening of the long-established diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.
“This relationship includes bringing all the seven East African Community nations closer in their ultimate goal to form the East African Political Federation.
“Had the pleasure of meeting President Kaguta Museveni at his Kisozi country home in Uganda. We discussed critical issues that affect our two countries such as energy and petroleum,” President Ruto added.
The trio also spoke about how the Azimio boss can be made the next Africa Union Commission chairman in the next Africa’s election.
“Also discussed was the declared candidacy of Kenya’s former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for the Africa Union Commission chairmanship,” added President Ruto.
Raila is seeking to replace Moussa Faki Mahamat
Incumbent Moussa Faki was elected on January 30, 2017, after seven rounds of voting, beating Kenya’s candidate former Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed.
