Sunday, May 14, 2023 –Opposition leader Raila Odinga and his political nemesis President William Ruto have left tongues wagging with their new-found camaraderie.

The two showed a lot of respect to each other during the burial service of Field Marshal Mukami Kimathi at Njabini Nyandarua County before, together, moving to Kasarani Stadium for the Kip Keino Classic Marathon.

The two – Ruto and Raila – would be received by Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba and other top State officials.

Raila would sit on the front row where President William Ruto was also sitting alongside Prime CAS Musalia Mudavadi and Ababu Namwamba.

President Ruto and Mr. Odinga would be seen tapping at each other as they engaged in an exciting sportsmanship at Kasarani.

Occasionally, President Ruto would be seen stretching hard to speak to Mr. Odinga as the crowd watched in anxiety.

“True gentlemen camaraderie….while you develop migraine matters politics. Keep this as a screen shot, stop acting a politician more than the politicians themselves. You celebrate or you grief more than them,” Mohamed Hersi commented.

Their reunion started when Odinga arrived a bit late at Mukami’s burial, walked to greet H.E William Ruto who, with respect, stood up to acknowledge the greetings. Both leaders rose above ego and spoke for about five seconds.

They later again met at Kasarani Stadium for the Kip Keino Classic event; in what pundits now claim was the best way to unite the country.

“This reminds us when all of them were in ODM under the leadership of Baba, Kwa hivyo ni kama serikali ni ya ODM,” asocial media user Raymond Ng’eno opined.

Another one thought this is part of the usual public relations stunts always pulled by politicians whenever they find themselves in a fix.

A source speaking to Homenws.co.ke indicated that Raila and Ruto will grace the Mashemeji Derby today Sunday May 14.

The two political arch-rivals – President William Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga – being under the same roof for the first time since the 2022 presidential polls, with each side of the divide throwing jabs at the other, has brought in a new twist of events amid cracks that were emerging in their ongoing bipartisan negotiations.
