Thursday, November 23, 2023 –The National Dialogue Committee NADCO is scheduled to present its final report to their principals.
In an official confirmation made by Co-chairman Kalonzo Musyoka on Wednesday, November 22, it was revealed that the sittings were almost complete after 90 days of heavy work.
Mr.Musyoka expressed his happiness for what he described as job-well-done by the team members from both ends of the political divide.
“I’m glad to report that the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) talks that begun three months ago, are at its final stages,” he announced.
Handing Over the Report
The Wiper Party leader added that, together with his team, they will officially be handing over the recommendations to his Excellence President William Ruto and the Right Honourable Raila Odinga on Saturday November 25.
“We will present to you our Final Report on Saturday November 25, 2023,” he stated further.
The report coming when there is unresolved agreement on the two contentious issues; among them the biting cost of living and the opening of servers related to the 2022 general elections.
Another matter which is yet to be agreed upon is the executive none-interference with political parties in the country.
During last weekend, on November 19 in Mwingi, Kalonzo confirmed that the report may not be signed by Azimio leaders should it not address the above; something that his boss Mr. Odinga had earlier warned that could happen.
Kalonzo, nevertheless, reported that both sides had come to a common agreement to evaluate the 2022 general election so that going into future electoral exercises, same mistakes should not be repeated for reasons of peace and stability after an election is conducted.
Bomas venue
The bipartisan dialogue committee is having its programmes held at the Bomas of Kenya and it is chaired by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Majority Leader in the National Assembly Kimani Ichung’wah.
Kalonzo and his team representing Azimio wing while MP Ichung’wah and the allies represented the interests of the government.
The talks started after Raila’ s Azimio la Umoja camp had intensified bi-weekly anti-government protests citing stolen votes.
