Wednesday, February 8, 2023 –President William Ruto’s meeting with over 30 Jubilee lawmakers will see the two camps now start working together, going foward.
The Tuesday eyebrow-raising meeting held at the Statehouse and hosted by the president saw Ruto allow back all Jubilee Party allies who had joined Azimio la Umoja coalition ahead of the last general election.
The leaders in the meeting today agreed to be led by President William Ruto so that peace and development can be realized fast and equally.
“You have a right to make choices as Kenya is a democratic country. You are now our members and we will treat you as such.
“We will be seeking your support on Bills and regulations on the Housing Fund, Water Purchasing Agreements, among others,” Ruto pointed out.
Speaking in the meeting, the Jubilee MPs argued that their party has had a strong relationship with President Ruto and DP Gachagua and all they have done is to ‘come back home’.
The MPs present were John Waluke (Sirisia), Mark Mwenje (Embakasi West), Sabina Chege (Nominated), Stanley Muthama (Lamu West), and Yusuf Hassan (Kamukunji).
Others are Balambala MP Omar Shurie, Eldas MP Adan Keynan, and Isiolo Women Representative Fatuma Dullo.
Reacting to the meeting, outspoken Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei termed the move as commendable and which is going to boost Ruto’s leadership in Parliament.
“Today over 30Mps of Jubilee Party have pledged to FULLY support H.E Ruto Govt in transformation of our country. Azimio-OKA/Opposition is being dismembered seriously with time they will be impotent in their political rallies/Maandamos into political oblivion,” he stated.
Their meeting is coming just hours after President Ruto also hosted eight Azimio lawmakers at the Statehouse Kenya on Tuesday February 7 morning.
The Ruto, ODM MPs meeting has since fetched criticism from ODM leadership which has condemned the action.
“It would also be interesting to get a list of the “development” discussed from each member who went to statehouse so that their electorate can follow up on implementation,” ODM Sec. Gen. Edwin Sifuna commented.
He also reminded them that development from the national government does not need anybody to go the Statehouse to get his fair share.
