Friday, October 25, 2024 –President William Ruto has continued with his onslaught on his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

Ruto, who was addressing roadside crowds in Lodwar, Turkana County on Friday, revealed that the main reason he has severed ways with some people in his government is because they didn’t like his idea of forming a broad-based government.

In an indirect reference to his differences with the embattled Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, the commander-in-chief said, he cannot regret enjoying other Kenyans in his government just because one or two people feel they own all the ‘shares’.

“I formed a government to unite all Kenyans. Was that a mistake? There are people who are angry because I appointed Beatrice Askul as a CS.” he said while referring to East African Community (EAC) and ASAL Areas Cabinet Secretary Beatrice Askul.

Drawing leaders from the opposition despite having not voted for him, was informed by his conscience for unity of the country. Ruto confirmed.

Falling short of mentioning Gachagua, he admitted that the bold move he made to hire Raila allies was met with heavy resistance from sections in his government.

This stretch and tension, according to observers, must have triggered the current broken relationship between the president and his deputy. Subsequently leading to the ongoing impeachment of the second in command.

Ruto brought on board Raila Odinga’s allies into his government and who are currently serving in different plum positions in the Cabinet and other State agencies.

Among the opposition figures working with him are former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi, ODM Chairman John Mbadi and former Mobasa boss Ali Hassan Joho.
