Tuesday, August 2, 2022 –Deputy President William Ruto was captured on camera shedding tears and narrating to members of the clergy about his struggle in Jubilee Government.
He had invited members of the church at his Karen home on Tuesday august 2 for a word of encouragement and after intense prayers, the DP could be seen immersed in tears.
The visibly emotional Ruto flanked by wife Rachel sobbed for quite some time as the clergies waited for him to take on the stage to address them.
In a video seen by this writer, Ruto’s eyes are seen soaked as he struggled to open his mouth to utter a word in the meeting.
“Let me say we are truly grateful as a team because we have seen God’s hand in this journey. The far that God has brought us and the many issues that we have overcome we have seen the hand of God.
“Along the journey, we have come to appreciate that men can let you down but God wouldn’t. We have come to the realization of trusting God because human beings can let you down,” he added.
Ruto who appeared to be not sure of what awaits him in the next few days to the polls, asked for continuous support from pastors so that he can make it in the election that is pitting him against seasoned Raila Odinga.
“We know the moments and we know the times and we know the challenges and I requested we have this moment of prayer together because of the weight of the issues that we are faced with in these last days before we go to the vote,” the DP stated adding:
“Thank you for coming to pray with my team and me. I underestimated this meeting but it has turned out to be something I never imagined”.
He also regretted having supported Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta twice; who he described as a thankless friend.
The DP narrated in details his struggles as Uhuru’s deputy recounting how the head of State had promised to endorse him only to change the last minute.
