Wednesday, July 26, 2023 –President William Ruto has today, Wednesday, met with his Tanzanian counterpart Samia Suluhu hours after opposition leader Raila Odinga accused him (Ruto) of frustrating Suluhu, two weeks ago.
Ruto jetted out from Nairobi to Dar Es Salaam Tanzania yesterday Tuesday July 25 amid claims by his opponent Raila Odinga that he(Ruto) had dodged a meeting with President Suluhu who was around for mediation, weeks ago.
Speaking to international media, Mr. Odinga disclosed that, though Ruto was the one who invited the Tanzanian President, he still snubbed her for about two days she was around; forcing her to go back home.
But in a quick rejoinder, President Ruto released an evening statement on his social handles saying he has always been open to hold talks with the opposition leader any time, any day.
He, therefore, challenged Mr Odinga to phone him today Wednesday July 26 when he arrives back from Tanzania.
“My friend Raila Odinga, am off to Tanzania for a human capital meeting to harmonise the expansion of employment opportunities in our continent. Am back tomorrow evening, and as you have always known, am available to meet one on one with you anytime at your convenience,” he wrote.
In subsequent reports, President William Ruto is slated to begin a five-day working tour of the Coast region on July 27th, 2023 covering Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale and Tana River counties.
He will focus on inaugurating, commissioning, and inspecting government projects that benefit ordinary Kenyans, aligning with his Bottom-Up economic economic model.
Furthermore, reports from the Statehouse communication team led by Hussein Mohamed confirmed that President William Ruto will not be attending the Russia-Africa summit, but instead, he will be represented by African Union organs.
