Saturday, April 2, 2022 –Deputy President William Ruto has apologized on behalf of his team after the attack that saw Raila Odinga’s convoy pelted with stones in Uasin Gishu County on Friday April 1.
Today while presiding over a meeting attended by aspirants from Kirinyga County including Governor Anne Waiguru, Ruto condemned publicly what happened on Friday at Iten area when Raila Odinga toured to condole with the bereaved family of Mzee Jackson Kibor.
And while addressing the press today Saturday April 2, the DP said he will be taking action to whoever was involved in the crime. He also promised to cooperate with security apparatus so as to bring to book the criminals.
The DP stated categorically that any UDA Party candidate who will not abide by law will be disciplined going forward.
“UDA and all our Kenya Kwanza partners are believers in a peaceful, progressive Kenya. I have given very clear instructions to our members which I want to reiterate today, that all members of UDA must never engage in any acts of violence,” Ruto stated.
“I have instructed the party to work with the police so that we can get to the root of what happened yesterday in Eldoret and if any of our party candidates were involved, we are going to take disciplinary action against them for the violence that was meted against the Hon. Raila Odinga,” he added.
Ruto argued that every candidate must be allowed to traverse the country to look for votes everywhere since this is in the Constitution.
Raila’s chopper was yesterday attacked by men believed to be associated with two Rift Valley politicians who were present in the burial ceremony.
In the attack, the chopper’s windscreen was shattered creating unnecessary delays for Azimio la Umoja brigade.
