Tuesday, November 16, 2021 –Deputy President William Ruto has embarked on a campaign to knock Raila Odinga out of the entire Mt Kenya Region completely.
In his Meru tour which has entered its second day, Ruto told off area Governor Kiraitu Murungi over his efforts to sell Raila around Meru Region.
He went ballistic on Governor Murungi who has endorsed the former Prime Minister Odinga for the top seat.
A visibly angry Ruto warned Kiraitu to stop any plans to market Mr. Odinga around Meru County saying it is only him(Ruto) who everyone should be listening to due to his track record.
Ruto added that there was a misleading campaign to force Raila on the people of Kenya instead of allowing every citizen enough space to pick the leader of their own choice.
“We, 8 million people, have lacked someone to lead us, we have no brains… until they bring us Raila Odinga to lead us? That is disrespectful.
“We have formed the Government twice, developed the country, all over a sudden someone is bringing us, someone to lead us,” William Ruto remarked.
The DP went on to protest the move by Uhuru-allied politicians to endorse Raila for presidency wondering what Odinga had achieved for this country that warrants the endorsement.
“Someone who throws stones, destroys railways, breaks parties… to lead us? No, Kiraitu should stop joking with us, don’t take us for fools,” Ruto added.
But in a sharp rejoinder a day later, Kiraitu told Ruto to stop propagating politics of hatred and name calling at the time the country was headed for an election.
The exchange between Kiraitu and Ruto is coming against the backdrop of an uproar in Kiambu County where the DP also called out Governor James Nyoro for welcoming Raila in Central.
