Sunday, May 26, 2024 –President William Ruto has come out to explain the cost of his United States visit following public uproar that the tour costed taxpayers a whopping sh 200 million.

Through an official statement he shared with the public on Saturday, President Ruto indicated that his mode of transport to the U.S was cheaper than the Kenya Airways KQ flights which the public thought would have been used, instead.

“Fellow Kenyans, I have noted concerns on my mode of transport to USA. As a responsible steward of public resources and in keeping with my determination for us to live within our means and that I should lead from the front in so doing, the cost was less than traveling on KQ,” Ruto stated.

Ruto with his entourage returned home yesterday Saturday May 25 and was received by his Cabinet team led by Interiors CS Kithure Kindiki and Head of Pubic Service Felix Koskei.

He thanked his host President Joe Biden with wife Jill saying they received the Kenyan delegation well and treated them as expected.

“Truly happy to be back home after a successful visit to the USA. God’s favour was present, real, and evident. Our hosts were generous and considerate. We got what we planned for and more.

“I thank all Kenyans for the privilege to lead and for prayers, goodwill, and support. Baraka,” stated President William Ruto.

Ruto’s five-day tour saw him bag a number of goodies from his host President Joe Biden with whom they also addressed the concern on Haiti mission and police deployment.

The two, while fielding questions from reporters, noted that they had resolved to deploy the Kenyan police so that to help restore calm in the Caribbean nation.

On why the American Troops were not going to be involved, Biden defended that the U.S.A was avoiding unnecessary speculations from some sections on what it could be trying to do.
