Ruto Warns Azimio on 2027 Elections

Friday, August 25, 2023 –President William Ruto has cautioned the opposition against sabotaging his plans of developing the country.

Ruto who was addressing in London Nakuru on Thursday August 24, warned that, instead of Azimio planning for the next general election, the team was hellbent of holding anti-government protests with an aim of running down his efforts to revive the economy.

The head of State held that doing protests is not part of the work of Azimio and said its work should be to hold the government accountable of its deeds.

He also said, in the Parliament today, cabinet secretaries undergo grilling whenever their is something wring in their docket what he(Ruto) noted was part of strengthening oversight.

“We have changed Parliament standing orders so that errant Members of Parliament can appear before MPs and answer questions concerning their dockets.

“Protests cannot be a solution to the problems bedeviling this nation unless some people want to argue otherwise,” Ruto added.

The commander-in-Chief affirmed his commitment to listen to the opposition so that they can put his administration on checks and that this is what oversight requires.

The head of State reasoned that the ongoing threats and intimidation from the opposition will hand them another loss in 2027 when election will be back.

“If Azimio la Umoja continues with the protests they might even lack agents in the 2027 elections,” he quipped.

President Ruto used the visit to issue more than 8,600 Title Deeds to Baringo County residents in the company of Cabinet Secretaries Zachariah Njeru.

Toghether with Transport and Roads CS Kipchumba Murkomen, he also launched the 78-Kilometre Kamukunji-Kisanana-Kipkitur-Mugurin-Lake Bogoria/Kipkitur-Mogotio Road.
