Monday, January 22, 2024President William Samoei Ruto has warned all school heads against asking for school fees.

Speaking yesterday in Busia County during his daylong tour, Ruto said he will deal with headmasters who are asking parents to pay fees when already his government has paid money to all schools.

He announced that this January alone, government had parted with a whopping sh 62 billion capitations for all institutions across the country including bursaries for Constituencies.

President Ruto further noted that it was a bad culture that many school heads were not reporting accurate information to parents when it comes to school fees.

“Let me make it very clear that those doing this will soon face our wrath. We have disbursed every coin needed this year and there is no reason for children to remain at home,” he warned.

Ruto was speaking this as schools continue opening across the country including plans for collages to start admitting those who passed the Kenya National Examinations 2023.

Ruto was accompanied by a section of leaders from Western Region including Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and former Busia Governor Sospiter Ojaamong.

Ojaamong used that chance to announce his support for William Ruto saying it is through him that Busia can be divided into two counties.

Mr. Ojaamong, who was governor for two terms, wants to have his Teso sub-tribe declared a county on its own.
