Wednesday, May 10, 2023 –President William Ruto and his wife Rachel Ruto had a chance to join other pilgrims at the historical Western Wall in Israel during their visit to the country.
Accompanied by the first lady, the duo was seen bowing for prayers and spiritual intervention at the site that also had other visitors.
The site located in the old city of Jerusalem is the last remaining outer wall of the ancient Jewish Temple and an incredibly important site of modern Israeli history.
To visit the site, one has to pay nothing and can do so any time of the day and night as it is always open 24 hours.
Additionally, to pray at the wall, women should have their legs and shoulders covered (scarves are provided at the site) while men should cover their heads.
In the photos shared from Israel, Dr. Ruto is clad in a black suit with his head covered with a white Zucchetto.
The historical landmark is the location of various ceremonies in Israel, where new soldiers usually undergo military inductions.
In 2017, Azimio la Umoja boss Raila Odinga, while on a trip to the nation, also visited the site for private prayers.
Ruto and Rachel left the country on May 6 for a series of official State visits to the United Kingdom UK, Netherlands and finally Israel.
