Ruto Wins Health Award in Addis Ababa

Sunday, February 19, 2023 –President William Ruto has been awarded by the African Leaders Malaria Alliance ALMA.

Ruto was feted by Joyce Kafanabo Award programme in the ongoing 36th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union taking place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Kenyan president acknowledged the recognition with a promise to remain steadfast in helping wipe away the diseases that affect the continent.

“I stand before you with deep humility to accept on behalf of the government and the people of Kenya the African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA) Joyce Kafanabo Award for excellence and innovation,” he said.

In their speech, Kenya was among the Africa nations that have been on the forefront in the fight against Malaria and other disease and Ruto noted that the award underscores his score card.

“The award recognizes the best scorecard in reproductive, maternal, neonatal, child and adolescent healthcare,” the President remarked in his acceptance speech.

President Ruto further seized the opportunity to extend his gratitude to the president of Guinea Bissau, Umaro Mokhtar Sissoco Embaló who is the chair of ALMA.

Ruto, on behalf of his government, further pledged to remain devoted to pursuing positive change when it comes to healthcare in the country.
