Friday, January 6, 2023 –President William Ruto has issued a directive to all ministries asking them to have a time frame for implementation of his manifesto.
Ruto, who was addressing his Cabinet during their first day in the ongoing Cabinet Retreat held at the Fairmont Mt Kenya Safari Club, Nyeri County on Friday January 6, said that he now wants, at most, one-year timeframe for all important projects.
During his 15-minute speech, the head of State said, some projects needed as short period as three- or six-months’ timeline to complete.
“We expect timelines on our manifesto. When are you going to finish these programmes and actualise these commitments?
“Be it in three months, six months and one year we should have a picture of how things look,” he directed.
The president observed that he has a contract with the people of Kenya and which has to be fulfilled within the shortest time possible.
His target is to address the cost of living with a lasting solution, health sector, security and education.
Ruto, therefore, reminded his Cabinet to quickly reassess all the programmes of the previous regime and align them with his Hustlers vision.
“You have been taken through the programme of budgeting. The next budget must reflect the priorities that we have and carry the completion of all the other programmes that are in the best interest of the people of Kenya,” he added.
He seized the opportunity to order all his CSs to traverse the country by combing through the villages in interior parts of the country so that to address certain specifics.
“I expect to see CSs work beyond the villages. I expect to see the CSs in Turkana and other places. We must appreciate Kenya and what it looks like,” he stated.
President Ruto also launched a paperless Cabinet meeting propgramme that will see Cabinet interactions done virtually to make administrative work a lot easier.
