Wednesday, June 8, 2022Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance leader Raila Odinga’s ratings have overtaken Deputy President William Ruto.

Latest survey findings by Infotrak survey firm have today Wednesday June 8 shown that Raila Amollo Odinga is taking a lead with 42 percent while deputy President has fallen to 38 percent.

Though Odinga’s popularity seem to have stagnated for some time, he is advantaged by the fact that his fierce rival William Ruto is falling sharply as time goes by.

Last week, DP’s popularity was at 42 percent but has now fallen by 4 points signaling a tough ending for a man who has been on a campaign trail since 2013.

In the latest poll, Infotrak Chief Executive Officer Angela Ambitho noted that Odinga is also leading in major counties – Nairobi, Nyanza, Western, North Eastern and a few more others.

Additionally, the pollster also established that should voter turnout on August 9 be at 95 percent, Mr. Odinga will collect his 9.3 million votes from his supporters. This means he will secure more than 25 percent votes in 37 counties beating the threshold to be declared the winner.

United Democratic Alliance UDA candidate, William Ruto, on the other side, would get 8.4 million of total votes cast with more than 25 percent of voters in 38 counties around the country.

The pollster found out that 11 counties –  Tana River, Kwale, Lamu, Turkana, Narok, Kajiado, Narok, West Pokot, Samburu , Nakuru, Trans Nzoia and Bungoma –  remain undecided and would play a role of a ‘swing state’.

Infotrak further reported that, despite Raila having picked on Narck-Kenya’s Martha Karua as his running mate, women around the country still remain unmoved by this and will equally vote for Ruto as some vote for Mr. Odinga.

Decision to vote for either Raila or Ruto is purely informed by how each one of them is going to address pertinent economic issues like joblessness, poverty, education security and health.
