Monday, May 20, 2021 -President William Ruto’s long time and trusted personal aide Farouk Kibet has said government will focus it’s energy on liquor taxes.

Farouk who was speaking in a church function on Sunday May 20, noted that their government will not tax bread as it is being propagated out there but, instead, alcohol prices will go up to reduce consumption.
According to Kibet, alcohol unlike bread, is not a basic item and should be taxed properly so that government can get more money from it.
“There is propaganda being peddled out here that we want to tax bread. I don’t think so. I want the church to understand that what we are going to tax is liquor.
“We as a government have problems with alcoholism in this country and to reduce it, we must tax it for government to get money,” he also said.
Elsewhere in Mt. Kenya, Chief whip in the National Assembly MP Sylvanus Osoro locked horns with politician Mutahi Kahiga over the state of friendship between President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
Osoro, while responding to Kahiga said Mt. Kenya Region still wields immense power in government and politicians ought not to mislead the country that Ruto is fighting them.
He listed a number of senior State officials including the current deputy president, Attorney General and the Chief Justice, and the Majority leader appointed by President William Ruto and who come from Central Region.
Kahiga had blasted Ruto for alleged attempts to disrespect his deputy. Mutahi claimed that some individuals in government think Gachagua was done a favour to get his position in Kenya Kwanza administration.
