Ruto’s Sunday meeting in limbo as police refuse notification

Deputy President’s Sunday tour in Kakamega County still hangs in the balance after the government refused having knowledge about it.

Former Kakamega County Senator Dr. Boni Khalwale confrontation with police in a Past function.

Kakamega County Commander Hassan Barua has responded to reports that they had refused to allow the DP to tour the area.

Speaking exclusively to Homenews.co.ke, the Commander remarked that he was away for an official duty and therefore he had not received any notice from any politician terming this as ‘propaganda’ meant to whip emotions from locals.

“I traveled to Nairobi and I am not aware of any intention to host the Deputy President in Kakamega. Maybe they will notify me when I return,” he clarified.

Ruto is supposed to tour Kakamega’s two fundraisers on Sunday October 25th at St. Leo Catholic Parish at Shianda in Mumias and another at Matungu Constituency in Mumias where he will be accompanied by Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali and his Matungu counterpart Justus Murunga among others.

Host priest from Our Lady of Assumption Humphrey Makokha disclosed to the media how he had not received any response from authorities despite having made an application in time.

When police dispersed DP William Ruto supporters in Mumias recently.

If Ruto will not be touring the area, then this will make the second time he is being stopped from landing in the area for his political functions which he always calls development oriented.

Police have been citing both health and security reasons for their move to stop DP Ruto’s functions.

It became worse when two persons lost lives at Kenol Station in Murang’a County when the DP was touring the area.

Ruto, on his part, quickly distanced himself from the chaos saying some State operatives should instead be held squarely responsible for any lawlessness that happened that time.

He has severally accused top authorities for using police to fight political wars as the country heads towards 2022 elections.

The DP has also been claiming that his ‘Hustler Movement’ was sending shivers down spines of his political rivals.
