Sunday, May 14, 2023 –President William Samoei Ruto has claimed that Prime Cabinet Secretary Prime CS Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi has since cut weight due to too much work.
On Sunday, May 14, President Ruto who was responding to a public concern on why he had reduced weight in comparison to how he was during the campaigns, said this is because of change in responsibilities.
He also said not just him, Chief CS Musalia Mudavadi had also shed some weight because of the biting government duties they have to fulfill, sometimes, late into the night.
“Even when you look at Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, you will also see he has cut weight because he is working throughout the night,” the head of State told Eric Latiff.
Spice FM Eric Latif had sought answers from the head of State during a joint media briefing held at the Statehouse on Monday May 14.
“I had an original fitness routine but it ran amok the last one and half years because we went into an election.
“You know when you go to an election you have a lot of pressure and sometimes you take it out on food,” he explained.
“Sometimes you have to overeat while campaigning because you do not know the next time you will get time to eat,” the President responded.
Ruto also went on to give a questionable answer on the same when he argued that his new responsibility in office had led into this weight loss.
This response threw his listeners into some confusion as to what exactly could be the exactreason to his drastic change in weight.
“I am now trying to cut down because I have a huge responsibility as Head of State,” Ruto further explained why he had to shed weight.
His response is coming in the wake of concerns among Kenyans over his drastic loss of weight, with some wondering whether he was overworking, depressed or sick.
To support his response, the President, in the interview, explained the work he has been doing since assuming power on September 13, 2022.
“We are trying to bring the economy back on track and my team is working day and night,” Ruto stated.
On his achievements, the commander-in-chief touted his affordable housing project as a game changer that would provide 200,000 units annually.
Ruto also defended his choice of 50 plus Chief Administrative Secretaries CASs saying there is a lot to do and, therefore, need for more staff.
