Wednesday, November 17, 2021 –Heavily armed detectives fetched from Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI and Anti-Terrorist Police Unit ATPU today afternoon came for the Prisons Service boss Mr Wycliffe Ogalo.

Sacked Ogalo(Commissioner General Prisons Department) was on Wednesday November 17 picked from his office at Magerreza House and drove straight to the DCI headquarters for grilling over the recent escape incidence of ‘terrorists’ from jail at Kamiti.

In a video which Homenews.co.ke has had a privilege to look at, heavily armed ATPU officers raided the Magereza House where they found an unprepared Ogalo and took him with them. He could be seen protesting taking the back seat of the car before he was ordered to follow orders.

However, a statement from the National Police Service NPS insinuated that Mr. Ogalo had not been arrested but was being taken home safely.

Reports have it that the head of Kamiti Maximum Prison Charles Mutembei together with his deputy were also whisked away in the afternoon dramatic raid.

The events are informed by the laxity of prison officers which led to three sensitive terrorism suspects escaping unnoticed.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has since weighed into the matter and termed it a weighty experience which must not go unpunished; adding that anyone found culpable should be held responsible for the purposes of accountability.

Uhuru has also directed the Ministry of Interior led by Dr. Fred Matiang’i to deploy all necessary machinery which could un-earth the rot at the Kamiti Prisons so as to find out what exactly happened before the escapees took off silently.

Kenyans have also been urged to combine efforts with authorities so that the escapees can be flushed out from their hideouts.
