Monday, August 29, 2022 –Top security organ in the country has moved with speed to file an affidavit at the Supreme Court in response to Wafula Chebukati-led Commission’s claims that it had tried to interfere with election results.

On Monday August 29 morning, the National Security Advisory Council NSAC, through its detailed and straight-to-the point affidavit, charged that when they went at the Bomas Grounds, they purely engaged Chebukati on security matters and nothing else.

The council wondered how Chebukati can only fault the 2022 meeting when in the previous elections they also toured Bomas of Kenya for a similar reason.

“In order that the Honourable Court is in good stead to determine the real issues in controversy and to do justice to this case, it is imperative that the misconceptions sought to be created in the impugned Replying Affidavits are corrected,” read part of the replying documents.

This is in response to what the IEBC had alleged against the council’s members that they had pushed to interfere with the final presidential results at the National Tallying Center.

The IEBC indicated that the NSAC wanted Raila Odinga and Martha Karua be declared winners instead of William Ruto who had fairly won the contest.

And to correct this reports, the council has joined the Supreme Court petitioning side so that to avoid what it has referred to as ‘image injuring’ for the sake of the nation.

In the detailed replying affidavit, Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua explained that he first called Mr. Chebukati to strike an appointment that saw him send a delegation there.

This is after Chebukati allegedly tried hard to dodge them over the meeting hence a need to drive to the Bomas venue purely to discuss security matters surrounding the election tallying exercise and verification.

“It is due to the urgency and sensitivity of the matter at hand that NSAC considered it necessary to have a physical meeting as opposed to engaging in correspondents,” Kinyua expounded in the affidavit also signed by Principal Administrative Secretary at the Office of the President, Kennedy Kihara.

Upto that far, there was nothing unusual in the meeting as it is being peddled by a section of IEBC Commissioners.
