Tuesday, September 14, 2021 -Meru County Senator Mithika Linturi has been charged with attempted rape.
Appearing today September 14 in Milimani Law Courts before Chief Magistrate Nanzushi, the politician was subjected to a charge sheet on attempted rape of a 36 year old lady.
This January 30 incident was reported to have taken place at Maiyan Villas Hotel in Nanyuki at around 3 AM.
The Senator will also be answering to charges of committing an un-permitted act to an adult against the provisions of Section 11(A) of the Sexual Offenses Act.
He however pleaded not guilty to both charges and was freed on sh 200,000 cash bail in the case which will be mentioned on October 26.
In the charge-sheet, the complaining lady claimed that the Senator stormed her hotel room when the husband was yet to arrive, and wanted to force her into sexual act.
“…Thirty minutes later she heard a knock on the door and went to open the door only to find her husband standing at the door prompting her to switch on the lights since she was confused who was in her bed whom she thought was her husband,” the lady’s statement was quoted by a local daily.
She would then identify that the man on the bed was not her husband but Senator Linturi what forced her to raise an alarm.
Linturi, on his part, refuted the claims saying he only got lost to her room after lights went off on their floor but was never involved in other indecent activities.
