Wednesday, June 28, 2023 –Members of County Assembly Siaya County have rejected Deputy Governor William Oduol saying he cannot have an office within the headquarters.
This revelation was made for the first time by the DG who was speaking on Ramogi Tv on Tuesday June 28 morning.
He claimed that the MCAs, under instruction from Governor James Orengo, told him in the face that he will run his official affairs from elsewhere.
The said MCAs have instead prepared fresh charges against him and which they are threatening to take to the High Court.
“The MCAs are saying that I am unfit for office and they have refused to allow me to work from my office.
“They want me to be ejected out of my Siaya office until their appeal is heard and they want Governor James Orengo to get me a separate office outside the county,” Oduol lamented.
He used his Tv interview to urge the county assembly members to allow him carry out his Constitutional mandate since the charges they want to file with the court had already been dealt with at the Senate level.
The DG defended that he had nothing personal against his boss only that he was serving the people when he raised alarm on multimillion financial flaws within Siaya County.
“I want to tell them that they do not have the authority to choose the office where I will be situated and this issue will bring chaos in the county for no reason.
“The people are tired of these accusations against me. I am pleading with them to forget the past. The charges they are taking to the high court were part of the ones that were settled by the Senate,” he added.
In the fresh charges raised by the MCAs, they want Oduol investigated by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission EACC and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI on charges of gross violation of the Constitution.
Oduol’s clearance at the Senate has widely been attributed to rival Kenya Kwanza senators who voted against the charges following an alleged powerful phone call.
