Friday, August 9, 2024 –Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir are set to take over running of the ODM Party.
An insider in the party shared the rare details to one of the news outlets saying, should Raila Odinga’s AUC candidature succeed, both Sifuna and Governor Abdulswamad will replace Oparanya and Joho in that order.
The line-up is part of the proposals by internal party stalwarts keen to ensure smooth transition, following co-opting of party luminaries into the government.
Oparanya and Joho have since assumed their new role in the Ruto-Raila broad based administration following drastic changes that came as a result of Gen Zs ongoing protests.
The two -Sifuna and Shariff -are set to be elevated to deputy party leaders in changes that are expected to be effected during Friday’s Central Management Committee meeting.
ODM Party is currently facing leadership unrest as key members in the party jostle for positions left void by Mbadi, Joho, Oparanya and Opiyo wandayi.
So far, Parliamentary positions were recently filled, though, to the dissatisfaction of sections in the party who felt the area deserved better persons.
