Thursday, July 13, 2023 –Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has explained the reason government cannot arrest Raila Odinga over the ongoing economic unrest.

The outspoken Senator who was appearing on Citizen Tv Morning Breakfast show hosted by Trevor Ombinja explained that it had become hard for Raila to be arrested because the police don’t know how to execute the mission.

Though Sifuna added that though the government had discussed and reached to that point of arresting sections of opposition leaders, it was difficult to find a way of how to arrest their party leader.

He added that he had met with Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei in the Senate and dared him to arrest Raila because everybody knows where he lives and his office.

“I was with my friend Cherargei and asked him if I can take him to where Raila lives so that he could arrest him but they just talk.

“You people have threatened everybody of assignations, arrest violence and everything else but Kenyans have nothing to fear of this illegitimate government.

“Arrest us and present all of us to the magistrate then be ready to deal with burden of prove,” Sifuna stated.

The outspoken politician added that the continued empty threats to arrest them will finally lead to three-day nonstop protests around the country.

Kenya Kwanza cannot order the arrest of Raila Odinga. From next week, we will have three days straight of protests from Monday to Wednesday until President Ruto listens to Kenyans.

“We will grab that ostrich by its neck until it can learn to listen to the people who elect leaders,” he went on.

The first-time lawmaker again said this is the opportune time for the government to come down and listen to the 99 percent of Kenyans who don’t agree with it.

“It’s better of when known people like Sifuna, Osotsi or Raila are leading these demonstrations. Right now, at least there is someone who can call on and off these protests but when Kenyans will take it upon themselves, this will be the end of this illegitimate government,” Sifuna also stated.

He said every Kenyan is now unhappy with the William Ruto’s type of leadership because of the new taxes; what his colleague Gichuke Ribathi agreed with.

“Raila does not have water cannons, tear gas or bullets, it is the government of the day that is creating chaos and ought to stop. Even if Raila was given a position today, unga will still cost more and Kenyans will still be agitated and continue expressing themselves,” Ribathi said in a different show on K24 today.

Senator Godfrey Osotsi of Vihiga who was on same show with Khalwale and Edwin Sifuna added that the issues Kenyans express in demonstrations are now beyond Raila Odinga, ODM and Azimio coalition.

“Raila can decide to stay at home and people will still go to the streets because this government is not listening,” he depicted.

But in his response, Senator Khalwale described both Sifuna and Raila Odinga as seasoned cowards who feared to come on the streets on Wednesday July 12 fearing they could be arrested.

On his behalf, MP John Kaguchia of United Democratic Alliance UDA Party, noted that anti-government protests were an unfortunate case for the country; adding that the issue of high cost of living cannot be blamed on President William Ruto.
