Monday, April 29, 2024 –Nairobi County leadership today met at the City Hall to deliberate on the way forward over the raging floods around Nairobi City.
For the first time since their elections, Senator Edwin Sifuna and his adversary Governor Johnson Sakaja met other leaders in a meeting that was also attended by Dagoretti North Member of Parliament MP Beatrice Elachi.
“Nairobi leadership in a meeting to discuss devastating floods in the city,” a source privy to the happenings shared on X.
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, on Monday, also toured various parts of the City to assess the state of affairs following the heavy rains.
And following the postponement of School opening dates and the fact that many parents had already dispatched their children to report to school Monday morning, Sakaja was seen meeting stranded children in various bus stations to offer them support and fare back home.
“We have organized the payment of return fare for the stranded students. My teams are at various bus stations sorting out transport for children in uniform as they make their way back home,” he shared.
Elsewhere, the High Court has lifted the conservatory orders halting the arrest and prosecution of former Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria, his wife, and other corruption suspects.
In a ruling this afternoon, Justice Sifuna instructed Wa Iria and his co-accused to promptly report to the EACC Police Station at Integrity Centre for fingerprinting and statement recording, with charges expected to be filed tomorrow Tuesday.
Non-compliance will result in immediate arrest as per Judge Sifuna’s orders.
