Tuesday, September 12, 2023 –Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has revealed to the public how he met opposition leader Raila Odinga for the first time.
Speaking on Tv 47 on Monday September 12, the Nairobi Senator recounted his life and how he transformed from a poor child to whom he is today and into politics.
In a show hosted by Willis Raburu who had also brought on board several youths for the inspirational show, Sifuna said the easiest time to meet Raila Odinga is the first two weeks after election. He explained that he first looked for the ODM boss after the 2013 general election and sat with him in his Capitol Hill offices.
“The easiest time to get Raila one-on-one is immediately after the elections. In 2013, I went looking for him and, luckily, found him in his office at the Capitol Hill.
“He was alone in office, shared with him a cup of coffee and told him about next general elections because 2013 exercise was now water under the bridge,” Sifuna recounted.
The vocal Nairobi senator also seized the opportunity to advise the youths on how to find the best paying jobs in Kenya; saying he was a victim of poverty as well as toxic job.
He recounted how he lived a frustrated lifestyle despite being on a salary of sh 400,000 every month.
“I left a job I used to earn sh 400,000. My then boss was one from hell. He would wake me up anytime for an assignment.
“I had to leave and look for a sh 50,000 job as long as it could pay my bills and fuel my small car,” he stated.
He also reminded the audience that he started his life at Amalemba Township Primary School in Kakamega Town before moving to South B in Nairobi.
Today, Sifuna is an accomplished lawyer, Secretary General Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party and also Nairobi Senator.
The lawyer is known by many as an eloquent debater.
